Sofia Airport is located approximately 7km from the City Centre, and is served by convenient bus and taxi services.

Service 84 from the bus station at Sofia Airport (close to the arrivals terminal) travels to Sofia University in the City Centre. This service runs between the hours of 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. throughout the year. A single ticket will cost 0.5 leva (approx. €0.25), although each item of luggage larger than 60 x 60 x 40 cm (24" x 24" x 16") will require an additional ticket for the same cost.
Taxis leave from a line in front of the arrivals hall, and a fare to Sofia City Centre will cost 6 leva (around €3) on average. Passengers are advised to avoid taxis which are not operated by "O.K. Supertrans" taxi company, who have an office in the arrivals hall.
The railway station is located in the north of the city centre, and has regular train services to and from towns and cities throughout Bulgaria and abroad. First class tickets are inexpensive, and seats must be booked in advance of any journey.
Public transport within the city centre is in the form of bus, tram or trolley bus services. Tickets can be bought from kiosks, at newspaper stands at the major stops or from the driver of the vehicle. These must be punched upon boarding. The cost of a single trip, for any distance on any service, is 0.5 leva (around €0.25), with one day, five day and one month travel cards also available. Conductors inspect tickets at random, with a fine of 4 leva for passengers without a valid ticket.
